March in Arizona brings more amazing weather (average temp of 75F or 24C), spring training major-league baseball, and lots of other fantastic outdoor events. Its perfect weather to explore our surrounding mountains with a day hike, or maybe venture to Sedona for an artsy day. And golf? Well golf in March just can’t get any better!

There’s more to Arizona than the weather, though. Yes, there’s plenty to do with lots to see and much to explore. Pro sports are in full swing, outdoor dining, hiking, tennis, arts… well, you get the idea. But this is the ideal time to finally invest in that house or condo here. If you’ve delayed that decision, here are some market facts that might cause you to change your mind.

First- the dollar is nearing par (hovering around $1.03 as I write this). Several web sites that track the exchange rate trends say that it may be Fall before true parity is reached. Meanwhile, our home prices are increasing. In fact, a little research shows that for homes sold so far this year that were priced under $150,000, the actual sales price is higher than the listed price. Over the next 2 months, we expect a great deal of sales activity due to the income tax credit deadline for US buyers. Are pricing increasing? Yes they are. Don’t wait any longer—you’ll pay more money.

In the past few months, we’ve worked with dozens of Canadian clients. So many are surprised at the level of service that we provide our clients. Recently, a couple from Calgary purchased a condo in a beautiful resort area of town. They just closed escrow- a very smooth, hassle-free process) and wanted to make some significant upgrades to their condo. We arranged for new flooring, granite counters, and appliances to be installed for them, along with some other minor repairs. Then, we arranged for the purchase of all new furnishings, art, accessories, etc. With our on-staff decorating, we transformed their new condo into a showplace for them. Of course, they paid for the repairs and the furnishings, but we took care of coordinating all of the activities- at no charge, of course.

Here are our tips for deciding what might be the right holiday home for your use: First, focus on what you'd like to do when you're here. If its golf, shopping, fine dining, hiking, arts, pro sports... then consider a home that will give you easy access to those destinations. For example, one of our recent clients told us that it was very important to them to have easy access to an area where they can bicycle, walk, play golf and even walk to shopping. So they purchased a condo along the 14 mile long Hayden greenbelt in central Scottsdale. They can simply walk out their front door to a resort like green path and enjoy the exercise.
 Don't forget that unlike your colder climate, our focus here is on the outdoors, not the indoors. So a great patio, a low maintenance lawn and a home that is easy to lock and go might make your trips more enjoyable.
